Because here’s the truth: not all coffee on Carnival is free. And the line at JavaBlue Cafe on sea days? Insane.

I am not much of a coffee person but I'll do it for you guys. After 30 Carnival sailings, I tried every single cup onboard so you don’t have to guess what’s included, what costs extra, and what’s actually worth it.

1. The Free Coffee On Carnival

Good news: you will not go without caffeine. Bad news: it’s basic drip coffee.

1. Lido Buffet Coffee Stations

Cost: Free 24/7
What you get: Regular + Decaf drip coffee. Sometimes hot water for tea.
Where: Every Lido buffet, plus Guys Burger Joint on some ships.
Verdict: It’s... cruise coffee. Fine for a quick wake-up before port. Bring a insulated travel mug like this one - the free cups are mugs are great but best to bring yours.

2. Main Dining Room

Cost: Free with breakfast and dinner
What you get: Unlimited refills of regular coffee. You can also ask for decaf.
Pro Tip: Ask your waiter for coffee to-go in a to-go cup for morning port days.

3. Room Service Coffee Pot

Cost: Free coffee between certain hours of the day. There is no delivery fee but always nice to tip your server.
What you get: A full pot delivered to your cabin. Takes 30-45 min.
Verdict: Only worth it if you have 4 people drinking it. Great if you brought your own K-Cups and just need hot water.

4. Casino Bar

Cost: Free while you’re gambling
What you get: Regular coffee served by cocktail servers.

2. The Paid Specialty Coffee: JavaBlue Cafe

This is where 90% of cruisers spend their coffee money. You’ll find JavaBlue Cafe on Promenade Deck on almost every Carnival ship.

Pro Tip: No need to bring your own tumbler? I disagree. They’ll make your drink in a souvenir cup, but it doesn't keep it hot. Bring this 12oz insulated tumbler - they will make it directly in it and your latte stays hot in port.

Found on Excel class ships. They serve Cold Brew on tap $6.50. Way smoother than JavaBlue’s.

2. Bonsai Sushi

3. Room Service Premium

You can order a JavaBlue latte to your room. It’s the drink price + $5 delivery. Only do this if you really need it.

Final Verdict: Is Carnival Coffee Good?

The free coffee is fine. The JavaBlue coffee is genuinely good. Not Starbucks level, but better than most hotel coffee.

If you drink 2+ specialty coffees per day, i highly recommend buying the cheers package on day 1. If you only drink 1, then just pay as you go.
